82 Persons booked under PSA under Mufti-led govt in Kashmir: Geelani

Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Saturday said that more than 80 persons were booked under the infamous Public Safety Act (PSA) till date in the present regime led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

82 Persons booked under PSA under Mufti-led govt in Kashmir - GeelaniIn a statement issued here, Geelani said that police today booked another Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Abdul Gani Bhat Sopore under the PSA and till date 82 political activists and students have been slapped with the law in Mufti rule and dozens of them are still serving the preventive detention.

While strongly condemning the slapping of another PSA on Abdul Gani Bhat, Geelani demanded immediate release of all the political prisoners.

Geelani criticized Mufti for his “hollow slogans which he made before the elections that “he will face the pro-freedom leadership on political turf.”

“But since the inception of Mufti-BJP government in the state, all his claims proved to be a hoax and he proved to be an opportunist politician,” Geelani said.

He said that Mufti government has virtually banned the peaceful political activities of the pro-freedom camp particularly the political activists of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and the police is continuously following our members and activists and it has been a norm to detain them under baseless charges.

“Only in the last month, five Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activists were detained under the PSA and today another important Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Abdul Gani Bhat was also detained under this black law,” he said.

He said that the international human rights organization like Amnesty International has termed the PSA in Kashmir as “Lawless Law” and had termed its use as clear violation of the international laws and human rights.

But the law is still used in the troubled state and the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is openly using this black law to suppress the peaceful voices of the pro-freedom people, Geelani said.

While demanding immediate release of all the prisoners detained under the PSA including the Abdul Gani Bhat, Chairman Hurriyat said that this government policies is increasing the political uncertainty and instability in the state.
